Tips for low-tech communities (flyers, paper forms, and more)
How to fundraise with limited access to technology or the internet
Jamboree is built as a mobile-first fundraising platform — but not every community, family, or supporter has regular access to smartphones, apps, or the internet.
That doesn't mean you can't fundraise successfully. There are simple, flexible ways to make Jamboree work in low-tech communities while still giving your team the same access to impact, earnings, and ease.
Here's how to do it:
1. Let one person be the technology access point.
If some participants don't have access to a smartphone or aren't comfortable using apps, a coach, teacher, parent, or team lead can manage the tech for them.
2. Use flyers to share the fundraiser offline.
Some supporters prefer to hear about fundraisers in person, or may not follow a team's social media. Creating and printing flyers can be a great way to reach them.
What to include on a flyer:
- What you're fundraising for
- What their support helps accomplish (team needs and tree planting)
- How to give (with a QR code or short URL link)
- Who to contact if they need help supporting your team
3. Use a shared device at events.
If your team is at a game, practice, or community event:
- Bring a phone or tablet with the app open
- Help people give their support or see the fundraiser on the app
- Use it as a shared "fundraising station" for those who don't have access to
This works well at tables, check-in booths, or concession stands!
4. Provide simple step-by-step instructions.
Even supporters who do have smartphones may not be familiar with mobile apps or digital fundraising.
Help them out by offering:
- One-pager instructions with screenshots
- A quick in-person walkthrough at practice
- A "how to support us" handout with clear steps
5. Be flexible with participation expectations.
Families might be overwhelmed or uncomfortable with digital tools. Offer them a low-pressure path to participate.
Examples:
- "Would you like me to share your link for you?"
- "No worries if you can't log in — we'll add your name to the flyer."
- "Even just telling a few friends in person helps a ton."
